Sebastiani 'Sonoma' Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

With a very dark garnet color, this wine offers ripe, opulent black cherry fruit, for which our Sonoma County Cabs are known. The cooler vintage provided us a wine with finesse, elegance and intoxicating aromatics, akin to a Bordeaux from the Medoc. The nose is filled with brown sugar and blackberry aromas topped with coconut and vanilla from the oak regime. The blackberry continues on the palate and carries through to the finish. This wine will definitely improve with age; however, it is incredibly drinkable now

Aromas of mocha and cedar lead to flavors of supple plum and currant. Has a nice dash of spice and very slight black licorice. Nice wine. 9/24/11

Comes from superior vineyard sites in Sonoma County's top AVAs for Cabernet, including Sonoma Vallet and Alexander Valley. Aged in American oak. Flavors of black currants, red licorice, black tea and toasty oak. Well-rounded tannins and long-lasting finish.

This dark garnet-colored wine has black tea and black cherry aromas with hints of cigar box and mocha from barrel aging. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a hint of juicy blackberry, this wine is well balanced with flavors of cedar, raspberry and cocoa. The finish is long, carried by the toasty oak, forest floor character and structured tannins that promise this wine’s potential in the next several years. Enjoy now, cherishing the fine grained tannins and full body, or cellaring up to five years for a softening of the tannins and emergence of more spice, leather, vanilla and chocolate notes.

Forest floor and tea-like aromas, typical of Alexander Valley Cabernet, are also present. The oak is in the background, which allows the elegance and character of the region to shine through. The palate delivers gobs of lush, concentrated blackberry and vanilla flavors framed by moderate tannins

Deep, opaque, ruby red color. The aromatics and flavors are what you would expect from the vintage, region and variety: blackberry, black tea, baked berry pie, chocolate, raspberries and olives. While the wine possesses formidable heft, it is also smooth, silky and beautifully balanced.
