One of my Top 10 Merlot picks under $15 a bottle from 2008. In my glass, this Merlot was a nice, deep garnet color. A wonderful nose of ripe plum, cinnamon spice, blackberry, and red licorice. The mouth feel was full bodied, soft, and rich. Flavors of ripe plum, black cherry, cocoa, and vanilla. On my second taste, more pronounced vanilla, herb, and dried red fruits led to a long, flavorful finish. A great wine to pair with grilled steak, barbecued pork, pasta with tomato based meat sauce, lamb, and a gyro salad. We loved this wine since it was very elegant, balanced, and approachable. We give this 2008 Sebastiani Sonoma County Merlot a well deserved 91 points! Sometimes you don't have to pay alot to get great flavor and quality. This is one of those wines. If you have a 2008 vintage of this Merlot, we recommend you drink it before the end of 2014. WineSplashing!!

Winemaker Notes - This crimson colored Merlot is full of intense dark chocolate aromas which are underscored by ripe huckleberry witha hint of cassis. On the palate the wine is concentrated with deep, dark fruit such as black cherry, boysenberry and blackberry pie notes. This Merlot nishes with white pepper spice and folds into an elegant French oak vanilla symphony. This Merlot pairs well with Rib Eye steak alongside a mixed green and beet salad, or with Beef Strogano .
