Really pretty merlot. Smooth drinking, nice cherry and berry favors. A little bit of smooth oak. Drinks nicely after a short decant.

Dark crimson color, with aromas of toasted oak, black cherry jam and spice. this wine is a full-bodied, yet elegant glass with rich black cherry fruit and earth. The finish is slightly tannic and has lingering oak flavors. It should age well for the next five years and will develop Pomerol-like density and texture.
A medium top, dark crimson-colored wine with aromas of cherry, allspice, herbs and oak. It displays supple medium-bodied texture with black cherry fruit and vanilla flavors. This Merlot has a finish of oak and spice, reminiscent of the great Pomerols and St. Emilions of Bordeaux.

Here's a tasty rendition of a medium-intensity Merlot from one of the first families of Sonoma wine. The deep red color is almost opaque, with purple highlights. Cherry and sandalwood spice aromas carry through to the flavors, with supple, bitter chocolate tannins. Round and balanced, this is the closest you'll get to a big, rich style in this price category. It will match well with all the steak, roasts and robust everyday dishes you can name.
Given a choice, we'll take Merlot from Sonoma County any day. Our cusp climate (not hot, not cold) and porous soils seem to consistently bring out the best in this noble Bordeaux variety.
