Still dark and young after nearly four years, a big, brooding wine of considerable complexity and interest. Opens with big, lush flavors of blackberries and currants, chocolate, and coffee, very dry and rich in fruity extract. Tannins are thick and intricately detailed. Quite delicious and impressive.
The Sebastiani family has been making wines for 99 years, so they know a little bit about one of the more popular grapes in the world, if not the most popular. A wonderful aroma of fruit (blackberry and currant) wafts up from the glass and draws you in. The flavors of black cherry and oak give you a wonderful, medium- to full-bodied wine that is smooth and rich. There is a little bit of Cabernet and Cab Franc blended in to give the wine some depth and longevity. Drink it now or over the next three years.
Rich with exotic, maturing, spicy aromatics and a tight core of earth, currant, mineral, black cherry and cigar-box nuances. Well-focused, with firm, fine grain tannins. Drink now through 2007.
Here's a soft, gentle wine that's gooey-rich in cherry, cocoa-puff and ripe, sweet black raspberry flavors. Lightly oaked, it has a cleansing, espresso bitterness on the finish.
This is an awfully good wine. It's a great example of a coastal Merlot from a good vintage, lush and sweet in cherry, cassis and cocoa flavors, yet completely dry, and the tannins are rich and smooth. There's a complex velvety softness that caresses the finish.
Better than most in the Merlot pack, this bottle shines with clear varietal flavors, smooth texture and subtle note of oak. It's a wine to enjoy now, not years down the road.
Openly fruity, ripe and fleshy, with a supple, complex band of plum, currant and black cherry fruit that has a tasty overlay of cedary, spicy oak. Very complete and balanced. Drink now through 2008.
It shines with black cherries, plums, dried herbs, vanilla and mocha. The powerful aromas and soft, rich flavors make it the perfect choice for a wide range of foods and occasions. It is a charming wine that displays a lot of fruit and pairs nicely with chicken and light curry dishes.
