What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Winemakers Notes

Winemaking followed classic Bordeaux methods. Harvested at optimal ripeness, the juice remained in contact with the skins for an average of 14 days and, following malolactic fermentation, was aged in French oak barrels (40% new oak) and bottled in May 2005.
Seavey Vineyard's fifth estate-produced Caravina was made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that came from vines planted on several different locations of the south-facing hillside vineyard.

during the first three weeks in October.
Winemaking followed classic Bordeaux methods. Harvested at optimal

The 2003 Caravina is soft, deep, rich, concentrated and lush with abundant
amounts of chocolate infused blackberry and currant fruit. This full-bodied
Cabernet should age well for 10 to 15 years.
Released on June 1, 2006, the 2003 Caravina Cabernet is available by direct mail
order and sold at select restaurants only.
Production: Limited to 418 cases of 750ml bottles.
Tasting Note
The 2003 Caravina is soft, deep, rich, concentrated and lush with abundant amounts of chocolate infused blackberry and currant fruit.
The grapes were harvested during the first three weeks in October 2003.
