Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills Sta. Rita Hills Southing 2002
This is the inaugural vintage of our showcase Pinot Noir “TEN”, so named because it is comprised of our favorite barrel lots of each of the ten Pinot Noir clones on our estate vineyard. Dark and brooding on the nose at first, soon aromas of bright raspberries and exotic sweet spices evolve - cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate. This wine does not disappoint on the palate; it has beautiful balance and structure, with dense tannins and a long, lingering finish.
still alive and fresh. Velvety with great fruit and structure. My only complaint would be that it felt just a wee pit heavy and hot on the finish

The 2002 Ten is a darkly colored and substantial wine. It is slow to develop in the glass, ultimately revealing aromas of dark plum, black cherry and currants, along with notes of cedar and a hint of earthiness. Remarkably rich in texture, the wine maintains good balance across the palate and culminates in a firm, but velvety finish.
A classy effort, darkly colored, with high-toned aromas of cedar, plum and blackberry, this sleek, complex Pinot wins points for its excellent structure and long, expansive aftertaste that keeps revealing extra flavor nuances, finishing with firm, chocolaty tannins. Drink now through 2009.
Produced from a south-facing hillside vineyard the 2002 Pinot Noir Southing reveals a ruby/purple in addition to abundant aromas of sweet cherries currants and hints of plums and flowers. Made in a Cote de Beaune-like style with sweet kirsch and black cherry flavors mixed with spicy wood as well as loamy soil notes the Southing is more open and evolved than the Botella. Drink it over the next 5-7 years. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
The broad, rich, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2002 Pinot Noir Ten offers up sweet black fruit, cola, and allspice aromas intermixed with discreet notes of wood and loamy soil. Full-bodied, pure, and impressively rich, with enough acidity and tannin to provide delineation, this powerful yet elegant, impeccably crafted beauty will drink well for 7ndash;8 years. The designation ldquo;Tenrdquo; comes from the vineyardrsquo;s ten different Pinot clones, which are blended together to create this cuveacute;e.
Everybody liked the complexity and balance of this big wine. Opens with a blast of blackberry, cherry pie, smoky vanilla and molasses, leading to a very rich, full-bodied mouthfeel. Superextracted and tannic, but balanced and elegant nonetheless. Drink now through 2007.
The color hints at purple, and the wine is almost electric in its youth. Edgy with spice and laden with extract, this takes its time before yielding a more relaxed richness. the sandy tannins and black cherry flavor need several years to evolve.
A superripe, rich and concentrated style, with lavish mocha-laced oak wrapped around tasty black cherry, plum and wild berry fruit flavors. Firmly tannic, which gives it a nice backbone. Finishes with a touch of heat, but also a long, plush, lingerin... Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2002 Sea Smoke Cellars Pinot Noir Botella 750ml
