What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Reviews

One of the only Pinots today that I've been able to taste the oak. It's nice in this wine, giving it structure and strength. Raspberry fruit, with a black cherry component. Leather flavors are also present, making this one of the more interesting Pinots of the day.

The nose has complex fruit and flower notes. The palate is textured and silky. Ripe red cheries, raspberry notes and black fruit undertones develop as the wine flows onto the lingering finish. Vineyards: Shea, Stoller, Ribbon Ridge and Momtazi.
The winery says: "Every year in the cellar there are certain lots of wine that simply jump out at you with their intensity of flavors, multiple layers of complexity, and superior length. These are the lots that comprise the La Paulée bottling. Rather than pre-determine which vineyards or blocks this wine will come from read more...
