Schweiger Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mt. Napa Valey 2006

External Review by WineExpress.com:

In 1960, Fred Schweiger's parents, Tony and Theresa Schweiger, purchased 53 acres on Spring Mountain. Fred purchased an additional eight acres in 1961. The property is located at an elevation of 2,000 feet (above the fog line), featuring rich volcanic soils and unique microclimates particularly favorable for Cabernet Sauvignon. They spent a decade or so supplying their prime mountain grapes to wineries like Newton, ZD, Stags Leap and others before bottling their own wine in the mid to late 90's. This 2006 was made by current Winemaker Andy Schweiger who honed his craft at Trefethen, Joseph Phelps, Cain and Chateau St. Jean. It shows the power and concentration that this high elevation fruit takes on. Dense blackberry, black currant flavors with racy tannins and long finish. Aged 32 months in French oak barrels. This is classic estate bottled Spring Mountain Cab. Grab it now while it's ON SALE!
