Schug Sonoma Chardonnay 2007
We crafted this Chardonnay from select vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast appellation. This new AVA includes only the cooler portions of Sonoma County that are ideal for growing Chardonnay, including Carneros, southern Sonoma Valley, and the fog-influence microclimates of western Sonoma County. Produced in a lively, crisp style that emphasizes varietal character without the use of new oak, it has a spicy citrus bouquet that leads to juicy flavors of white peach and nectarine, followed by a sleek, juicy finish. Try it as an elegant aperitif paired with hors d'oeuvres, or with lighter dishes such as soups, salads, seafood and pasta dishes.

Rating: 87/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Lightly leesy with touches of caramel and vanilla sitting to the side of its central message of green-apple fruit, this energetic medium-weighted effort goes for brightness rather than brawn. Although not an especially big wine, it shows a fine sense of concentration, and, if just a bit hard and edging a little to tartness at the finish, it will serve as a useful partner to any number of simply broiled fish preparations.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
Offers a mix of ripe apple and pear fruit, with touches of citrus, giving this a tangy vibrancy and a long, clean finish. Drink now.
