Rating: 83/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. A bit murky in scent and not at all keen about fruit, this wan, slightly stiff, bitter-edged wine is bothered by a persistent, oddly papery note and comes with no gleanings or hints that it will be appreciably bettered by age.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Rating: 75/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Decidedly off-putting aromas of scorched earth and smoke start this wine out on a slippery slope, and the murky, bitter, unfruity flavors that ensue do nothing at all to slow its slide into the do-not-buy zone.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Not suitable for drinking.

Winemaker's Notes:

This classic Carneros region Pinot Noir offers a wide range of flavors and aromas, in the tradition of the finest red Burgundies of France. “Clonal diversity” is achieved by carefully blending several separately vinified lots, with each retaining its own clonal signature in the blend. The result, a complex wine with a rich bouquet full of cherries, berries and hint of spicy new oak. Flavors of bright cherry, currant and strawberry are followed by a spicy, smooth texture and elegant finish. This wine will pair nicely with lamb, duck, and even grilled fish and will improve with additional cellaring.
