Schramsberg Napa Blanc de Noirs 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Schramsberg Blanc De Noirs California 2004 : WINEMAKER NOTES: The 2004 Blanc de Noirs offers the essence of baked berry, nectarine, dried tropical fruit and cherry blossom with subtle aromas of warm pie crust, biscuit and graham cracker. Hints of guava and tonic lend an exotic note. The creamy mid-palate gives way to a zesty red tropical fruit finish. This bright, quenching wine will develop plenty of character and complexity over time while retaining it's youthful integrity. -WinemakersHugh Davies and Craig RoemerSCHRAMSBERG BLANC DE NOIRS CALIFORNIA 2004

Schramsberg Vineyards Company:
Schramsberg was originally established by Jacob Schram in 1862. Schramsberg was originally established by Jacob Schram in 1862. The hillside vineyards reminded him of those used to grow Riesling in his native Germany, and he bought the land and began his wine-making business (he had been a barber by trade). Eventually the family sold the property, and nothing much of note really happened to it until Jack and Jamie Davies bought the land in 1965. The Davies' were specifically interested in making sparkling wines, but only discovered after moving onto the land that the hot Calistoga hillsides (Calistoga is typically 5 to 15 degrees warmer than the rest of the Napa Valley) were not particularly hospitable to the two grapes essential to champagne, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They set about finding suppliers in other parts of the valley, and produced their first sparkling vintage in 1965. Widespread fame came in 1972, when President Nixon used the 1969 in his toast to China. Schramsberg has been the official sparkling wine of U.S. presidents ever since. Read less

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

A balance of bright flavors, crisp acidity and minimal tannins and a mature, toasty style. The youthful fruit character of the wine will caramelize and soften with additional age in the bottle. With proper storage, this sparkling wine will be delicious for many years, even a couple of decades to come. My favorite. Every time.

Beautiful mousse; fine, persistent bubbles on a creamy body. Very round and soft, with a touch of refreshing acidity and some almond and flowery notes.

I tasted this on June 19, 2007. Soft floral nose. Tart finish, light mouthfeel.

Excellent sparkling wine that is light and refreshing. The flavor is complex yet not overpowering. Nice finish.

Bright and lovely, this vivacious bubbly can barely contain the berry and candied citrus aromas that soar up from the glass. The exuberant bouquet is perfect preparation for the decadent palate impression, oozing stone fruits and subtle notes of vanilla and cream.

A rich, vibrant mouthful of a bubbly, with bold, complex aromas of cinnamon, yeasty vanilla, apple and cherry, with subtle spicy flavors that build to a fresh hint of minerality on the finish. Drink now through 2010.

Wine Tasting NotesPale in color, with delicate dough, smoke and vanilla notes, but youll find the Pinot Noir in the suggestion of cherries in the aroma, and a red-berry weight in the mouth. This is a beautiful wine, elegant and crisp, filled with balance and harmony and length.

Ripe flavor and full-bodied, with complex pear, fig, cherry, earth and citrus flavors. Offers depth, concentration and lots of pure fruit flavors. Drink now through 2006.

Wine Tasting NotesThis wine is dry and crisp with abundant flavors of lemon, apple, pear and pineapple. Small lots of malolactic and barrel-fermented wines are added for complexity. The wine is aged on the yeast lees in the bottle for about three years prior to disgorgement. With its bright fruit and crisp characters, this sparkling wine will maintain its freshness, structure and refined finish for many years following its initial release.

One of the finest sparkling wines made in the United States. With its inviting, open-knit quality, its citrus and tropical fruit aromas, and its subtle framework of vanilla and toasty spice notes, this is simply irresistible.
