Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Pale in color, with delicate dough, smoke and vanilla notes, but youll find the Pinot Noir in the suggestion of cherries in the aroma, and a red-berry weight in the mouth. This is a beautiful wine, elegant and crisp, filled with balance and harmony and length.

Schramsberg Vineyards Company:
Schramsberg was originally established by Jacob Schram in 1862. The hillside vineyards reminded him of those used to grow Riesling in his native Germany, and he bought the land and began his wine-making business (he had been a barber by trade). Eventually the family sold the property, and nothing much of note really happened to it until Jack and Jamie Davies bought the land in 1965. The Davi... Read more
Schramsberg was originally established by Jacob Schram in 1862. The hillside vineyards reminded him of those used to grow Riesling in his native Germany, and he bought the land and began his wine-making business (he had been a barber by trade). Eventually the family sold the property, and nothing much of note really happened to it until Jack and Jamie Davies bought the land in 1965. The Davies' were specifically interested in making sparkling wines, but only discovered after moving onto the land that the hot Calistoga hillsides (Calistoga is typically 5 to 15 degrees warmer than the rest of the Napa Valley) were not particularly hospitable to the two grapes essential to champagne, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They set about finding suppliers in other parts of the valley, and produced their first sparkling vintage in 1965. Widespread fame came in 1972, when President Nixon used the 1969 in his toast to China. Schramsberg has been the official sparkling wine of U.S. presidents ever since. Read less

This is a very tasty, crisp and light sparkling wine. I enjoyed it very much. I don't much about wines to say more.

Not bad, but not great. I wouldn't buy it again, but it was drinkable and somewhat enjoyable.

Winemaker Notes - The aromas are sweet and inviting with fresh lemon and lime, followed by pineapple and Jolly Rancher green apple. The generous nose is accentuated by a salty minerality that leads way to the yeastiness of fresh from the oven bread. Upon first taste, the 2007 Blanc de Blancs delivers delicious flavors of green apple, fresh honeydew melon and lemon custard. The palate finishes with a pleasant acidity that is crisp, long and lingering.

Sleek and layered, offering vanilla and Meyer lemon tart aromas and supple citrus flavors, with hints of caramel and anise. Drink now. 20,550 cases made. -TF Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2007 Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs Vintage 750ml

Bright and lovely, this vivacious bubbly can barely contain the berry and candied citrus aromas that soar up from the glass. The exuberant bouquet is perfect preparation for the decadent palate impression, oozing stone fruits and subtle notes of vanilla and cream.

Composed of 74% Pinot Noir and 26% Chardonnay, the 2007 Blanc de Noirs exhibits more structure and body as well as a firmer, more muscular style. The Pinot Noir component takes away some of the charm and finesse of the Blancs de Blanc, but it adds mo... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. 2007, it seems, was a quite good year for Schramsberg, and this brisk, almost austere Blanc de Blancs joins the winery's Blanc de Noirs and Rosé in winning very high marks. It is less a stand-alone quaffer and more a taut, acid-edged wine that wants ... Connoisseurs' Guide. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2007 Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs Vintage 750ml
