Schmitt Söhne Riesling Spätlese 2009
Schmitt-Söhne is a large company that produces wines throughout Germany. They are best known for their Rieslings, produced in different regions within the country and from dry to sweet. They also make wines from different varietals in red, white, rosé and sparkling, also from dry to sweet.
A great taste, absolutely to die for. It tastes like a complex apple juice. The alcohol is not detectable and the explosion on the tongue is on all fronts. This light desert wine is truly spectacular.
Good and fruity. Not an expert but tasted good.
External Reviews for Schmitt Söhne Riesling Spätlese
This fine Riesling wine originates from the Mosel valley with its steep vineyards and offers an extraordinary premium wine quality.Forward fruit and floral aromas of apples and peaches with just a hint of citrus. The natural acidity gives the wine a perfect balance that is refreshingly crisp and leaves your mouth watering. This wine pairs well with a wide range of food like light salads, poultry, seafood and blue cheese or just on its own. Serve chilled. - Winery
Probably the top-selling German Riesling in the store, the Relax is light and fruity, with bright green apple, lime and apricot flavors. Semi-dry, but not overly sweet, this wine is best chilled on its own, or with spicy Asian or Mexican cuisine.
At 250,000 cases imported, this has to be one of the biggest brands of Riesling on the market. The modern packaging contains a cleanly made, off-dry wine with bright herb and apple notes and a citrusy finish - it's easy to see its mass appeal.
A semi-dry Riesling offering mouth-watering flavor of ripe peaches, apples, and a hint of citrus fruit.
