Schmitt-Söhne is a large company that produces wines throughout Germany. They are best known for their Rieslings, produced in different regions within the country and from dry to sweet. They also make wines from different varietals in red, white, rosé and sparkling, also from dry to sweet.
Easy drinking wine, popular with folks that like the sweet stuff aka my MIL.
A very sweet white wine, perfect for sipping whenever.
I was introduced to this one by a man who knows his sweet, "drinking" wines (he shuns all others). Just one sip and my first thought was, "can I have a bottle?" It makes you yearn for more.
I've always been a Riesling lover and have sampled many different brands. I'm very satisfied with the Relax Riesling, great with chicken dishes. Its very smooth and fruity. I give it a full fve rating.
I love both the Schmitt Söhne Riesling Qualitätswein and the RELAX Riesling but they are two different wines. The image is of RELAX while the review is for Qualitätswein. What's up with that?
This is not the correct bottle image. This image is RELAX Riesling, not Schmitt Söhne Riesling Qualitätswein.
My first riesling experence was a German riesling and I liked it very much. My second was domestic and I really did not like it, so I am back with another Geman band and again I do like it, too. Light, crisp, fruity (and chilled). Guess here I got mine? Wal-Mart!
External Reviews for Schmitt Söhne Riesling Auslese
This fine Riesling wine originates from the Mosel valley with its steep vineyards and offers an extraordinary premium wine quality. Forward fruit and floral aromas of apples and peaches with just a hint of citrus. The natural acidity gives the wine a perfect balance that is refreshingly crisp and leaves your mouth watering. This wine pairs well with a wide range of food like light salads, poultry, seafood and blue cheese or just on its own. Serve chilled.
