Schlossgut Diel Riesling Kabinett 2009
Ridiculously charming a loveable, dancing wine; a little girl very neat in her school uniform, playing hopscotch on her way home; among the most innocent and child-like of any ’09 I tasted; lots of lime and garrigue and sassafrass, piercing brightness, whistling to itself as it skips out of view around the corner. One can be fond of wine like this.
The nose showed ripe peaches, tangerine, hints of lemon and floral notes. On the palate it was soft and ripe with sweet apple and lemon. It’s tongue curling acidity shows up later and lasts into the close. The finish was dry, showing citrus rind and hints of grapefruit.
