Schlossgut Diel Riesling Auslese Dorsheimer Pittermännchen 2007

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Bursting from the glass with aromas of spices, minerals and slate, the sultry, medium-bodied 2003 Riesling Spätlese Dorsheimer Pittermännchen is a plush, supple wine. Broad, angle-free, and revealing outstanding length, this lush offering regales the taster with layers of creamed apples and notes of limestone. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2013.

In 1997, the Prädikatsweingüter - an association of vintners dedicated to the production of high quality wines with distinction abbreviated as VDP - made it a standing rule in their statute that the most renown single vineyard sites can only be used in combination with the Riesling grape and in compliance with strict quality criteria. Apple jelly and peach preserves on the nose. Honeyed and jellied-fruit richness and sultry gardenia florality in the mouth, augmented and restrained by a refreshing hint of angular acidity and by wet stone and iodine mineral notes. Touches of brown spice emerge on the finish.

A wash of wet stones and minerals greet the senses, while the flavors turn to peach, nectarine and orange accents in this lightweight, intense Riesling. Racy and creamy at the same time. Drink now through 2012.

Really dense and creamy, with high-voltage acidity pulsing through it, this white tastes like peaches, vanilla and grapefruit, with a mineral aftertaste. Drink now through 2008.
