Schloss Vollrads Riesling Kabinett 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

With nearly 800 years of viticulture experience, Schloss Vollrads is one of the oldest wine estates, not only in Germany, but probably in the world. Situated in the heart of the Rheingau, the estate’s 60 hectares of vineyards are planted exclusively with Riesling. With the death of Erwein Count Matuschka-Greiffenclau in 1997, the ownership of Schloss Vollrads passed to the Nassauische Sparkasse, which carries on the family’s tradition of viticulture. This Riesling is light greeny gold in colour, with fragrant perfumes of lemon and lime following through to a lively, zesty fruit with ripe, grapey fruit balanced by a mineral acidity characteristic of the best Rheingau Rieslings. Long, aromatic finish.

A really lovely traditional riesling kabinett. Tart and very fruity with enough sugar for balance and a slight effervescence to tickle the tongue.

Wine Tasting NotesPale golden yellow. Subtle aromas of ripe peach, lemon oil and nettles. The soft, creamy texture shows just enough vibrant spice. A well-balanced classical style of kabinett, and fun to drink.
