Fresh and racy, with an effusive aroma of slate and graphite, followed by flavors of crisp apple, white cherry, lime and white berry. The lusciously creamy finish offers lip-smacking licorice notes. Put this away for a few yearsmdash;or decades. Drink now through 2035.

Broad strokes of apple, pear and grapefruit flavors are allied to a rich texture, with lively acidity underneath and a salty, minerally aftertaste. Drink now through 2020. 500 cases made. 93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): The 2011 Helden Spätlese was still in barrel, awaiting bottling, and was showing superb potential. The deep, pure and complex nose delivers a superb mélange of white cherries, lime zest, slate, a touch of mint, orange blossoms and wild yeast tones. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, bright and bouncy, with vibrant acids, outstanding mid-palate depth, great focus and a very long, pure and dancing finish. Just a superb bottle of Spätlese. 2012-2035. (Mar/Apr 2012)
