User Reviews for Schiopetto Collio Blumeri Red Italy

Winemaker's Notes:

The Schiopetto family has been in the wine business for three generations. Mario Schiopetto founded this legendary estate in 1965, producing wines that would eventually inspire the entire wine industry. Since his death, his children Maria, Angela, Carlo and Giorgio have demonstrated their commitment to running the family winery. The Schiopetto familys 75 acres of vineyards cover the estate surrounding the former residence of the Bishop of Gorizia in Capriva del Friuli, and the Podere dei Blumeri in the Rosazzo hills that form part of the eastern hills of Friuli. Since the beginning Schiopetto has set a standard of unrelenting quality that covers vineyard practice as well as vinification. The vines are planted in a unique soil type known locally as Ponca, which lends tremendous crushed-mineral clarity to the wines. The heart of the winery is the yeast room, which plays a vital role in the companys philosophy and production process. This is where the various types of yeast required to trigger fermentation are grown. Cutting edge technology is used to eliminate the risk of error and carry out the art of winemaking. Schiopetto is one of Italys foremost white wine producers. It was selected by Wine & Spirits Magazine as Top 100 Winery of the Year in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
