Very nice Barossa Shiraz. Would benefit from a bit more age to smooth it out. Still awesome value I plan on cellaring a few bottles from.

The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa dating back to 1952 when Ben Schild purchased the Three Springs Farm property in Rowland Flat and settled with his family. Ben transformed the land into a mixed farm with a focus on sustainable viticulture. Ben’s son Ed took over the property at the tender age of 16, after his sudden death in 1956. Through careful management and a keen eye for premium Barossa vineyards Ed has cemented himself as one of the largest independent premium grape growers in the region with over 400 acres under vine. Today second and third generation vigneron’s work side by side to solidify Schild Estate’s reputation, built on its commitment to translating the unique tapestry of its vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability. Schild Estate’s vineyards include some of the oldest in Australia including the famous Moorooroo vineyard near Jacob’s Creek, which was planted in 1847 by William and John Jacob. Ed’s vineyard site selection has favoured the cooler, southern end of the Barossa near Lyndoch, which enjoys a slower and longer ripening period – perfect for optimum grape flavour development. These generous wines are spearheaded by the iconic Moorooroo Shiraz, demonstrating regional integrity and illustrating Schild Estate’s reputation as Pure Barossa. Read less

A classic big shiraz, which might benefit from a few more years in the bottle to temper a bit of a harsh alcohol-y taste when first opened (but which dissipates as it breathes). There's a lot a tart berry fruit, with some nice cedar-y and olive-y accents. Long rich finish. At the available under $20 pricing at many sources, it's a darned good buy.

A wonderful ruby color in the glass. A bit leggy, and a strong cherry scent and a slight mineral tone. Nice and spicy at the front of the tongue. More cherries and blackberry in the middle, and a bit of meat at the back of the mouth. The feel is nice and juicy though the 14.5% will catch up with you.

Weingut: Schild EstateLand: AustralienRegion: Barossa ValleyRebsorte: 100% ShirazInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14,5 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 6,75 g/lRestsüße: trockenFassreife: in Barriques gereift (16 Monate)Lagerfähigkeit: 6-8 Jahre ab JahrgangEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18 °C Rotwein > Australien > Barossa Valley

Gorgeous stuff, it practically radiates a range of aromas and flavors, balancing its ripe cherry, blackberry and plum fruit with hints of minerals and sweet spices that make the finish sing for days. Tempting to drink, but just wait. Best from 2008 t... Wine Spectator. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2004 Schild Estate Shiraz 750ml
