Scherrer Winery Zinfandel Alexander Valley Old and Mature Vines Scherrer Vineyard 2009
91 points California Grapevine: Medium-dark ruby with purplish edges; attractive, forward, intense, briary, plummy, ripe blackberry fruit aroma with hints of vanilla and black pepper; full body; forward, rich, plummy, briary, dark berry fruit flavors; medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Shows good depth and varietal character and very enjoyable to drink now. Very highly recommended. 14.5% alcohol; 700 cases; released Summer 2011. (Dec 2011/Jan 2012)
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Clean and crisp, with bright red cherry, cranberry, great balance and good acidity. Not the big jammy kind of zin but refined and restrained like most of Fred's wines - excellent.
