Scherrer Winery Zinfandel Alexander Valley Old and Mature Vines Scherrer Vineyard 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): Good medium-deep red. Liqueur-like red berries, pepper, mocha and sexy oak notes of sandalwood and cinnamon on the nose; this reminded me of Chateauneuf du Pape. Lush, ripe red berry flavors firmed by harmonious acidity. Still a bit youthfully tight, with a saline nuance. But this is suave, fresh and serious, and not overly sweet. Firmly structured, adult zinfandel for drinking over the next several years.
