Scherrer Winery Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): Bright red. Intense, high-pitched red berry and floral aromas, with suggestions of star anise and white pepper. Vibrant and spicy on the palate, with sweet strawberry and raspberry flavors complemented by spice and candied rose nuances. Finishes long and fresh, with notes of dried flowers and a lingering spiciness. (May/Jun 2011)

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

I have yet to find a Scherrer wine that I did not absolutely love and this 2008 Pinot is no exception. Very Burgundian in style with bright red cherry, black cherry and blackberry fruit in perfect balance with slightly mouth watering acidity. Nicely layered with a fairly long finish.
