Scherrer Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is typically one of the softer, rounder manifestations of the varietal. This is the more open-structured of our two Cabernet bottlings, which reveals its accessible, yet substantial and age-worthy personality. Rich, plummy, lightly herbal, and toasty, with mild cassis character, this unfined, unfiltered wine will complement a wide variety of foods for many years. Alcohol 14.8%. Not yet reviewed; 2012 vintage rated 95 points by Robert Parker.

Since our small winery’s first vintage in 1991, our goal has been to create handcrafted, full-flavored wines that express the personality of the unique Sonoma County vineyards where they are grown. Fred first became known for Zinfandel from his father’s Alexander Valley vineyard, and now his careful hand with Pinot Noir from the Russian River and Sonoma County has quietly gained attention and a steady following. That same attention has made Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah that exemplify the bounty of Sonoma County vineyards. Read less

Incredible cab from Russian River. Well balanced without too much oak. One of the best cabs I've had.

Very approachable and richly layered Cab for an extremely exclusive Sonoma Winery.

Opened for a party and this stuff vanished, great cab, slightly smoother than the '06 with great balance.

5/6/2012 rated 95 points: Opened this bottle the day before. At the party this was the first to go and it was incredible. Had to hide the 2nd bottle to keep for ourselves.

Beautiful wine. Nice balance and spicy. I think it is underestimated. One to try!

First impression was of balance. Not overly tannic or fruity or jammy, just the right amount of everything - (a harmony of rounds and angles as Fred explained to us during one of our visits). This cab was perfect with our grilled sirloin/mashed taters.
