Scherrer Cabenet Sauvignon Sonoma County 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

A few barrels from the 2008 Scherrer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon harvest spoke neither of the individual site, or the appellation, but insisted on a place of their own. This harmonious wine with good varietal character should give substantial pleasure without significant bottle age -- two to five years from the vintage should be sufficient. 95 cases produced. Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 90 points by Wine Advocate: Distinct elements of darkness run through the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. Plums, cassis, grilled herbs and graphite are all very much alive in the glass. The 2009 impresses for its plush personality and round, silky finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019.

Fred first became known for Zinfandel from his father’s Alexander Valley vineyard, and now his careful hand with Pinot Noir from the Russian River and Sonoma County has quietly gained attention and a steady following. That same attention has made Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah that exemplify the bounty of Sonoma County vineyards. Read less
