Scavigna Bianco Odoardi 2010

External Review by Astor Wines & Spirits:

Wines from the west coast of Calabria are fairly rare, as vines are typically planted on the east coast. This dry white is certainly a find. It is a blend of 6 different grapes with a clean crisp flavor of yellow plums and apples.

A unique Italian wine. Scavigna is a DOC with only 1 single producer and this is his field blend of 5 different white grapes. An additional splash of Gewurtztraminer is added to enliven the aromatics. This crisp white displays persistant mineral notes layered with flavorful quince and pear. A balanced, creamy finish of lime zest custard points towards a pairing with pesto and shrimp.
