Sbragia Gino's Vineyard Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

This very special Zinfandel was aged in new French oak for 20 months, to help highlight its quintessential Dry Creek Zinfandel characteristics, which include aromatics of brambly fruit, and intense blackberry, raspberry flavors. Subtle floral notes, brown sugar and spice are apparent mid palate as a wonderful depth of flavor leads to a juicy finish.

I've had for some time, a small, family-owned winery making limited, individual lots of wine from grapes grown in select blocks of my favorite vineyards. I've always had one foot in Sonoma and the other in Napa. Both areas mean a lot to me emotionally. I'm more attached to Dry Creek because it's where I raised my kids. But the wines that I've made at Beringer are like children, so Napa is also a very special place for me. Either way, the wines are intensely personal, an expression not only of terroir, but of my family's winemaking heritage. -Ed Sbragia   Come visit us at our beautiful location at the end of Dry Creek Road. Our winery is perched on a hillside, overlooking the entire valley with sweeping views from our terrace. Guests are invited to bring a picnic or purchase light deli items from our tasting room and enjoy the sunshine and vineyard views. Seated Terrace Tastings are now available by appointment. Sbragia Family Vineyards prides itself on its single vineyard varietals and small case production. Varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the wines are made from vineyards owned by the Sbragia family, but do include select vineyards from Sonoma and Napa Valley as well. Our wines have received many accolades and are considered some of California’s best. The only thing better than the view is the wine! Read less

The color of the 2007 Sbragia Family Zinfandel Italo's Vineyard, showed a brilliant ruby red. The nose opened fresh, showing a mix of wild berries, primarily blue but ever changing with each sniff. A floral component came forward with time and a hint of undergrowth, sweet caramel and coffee bean, which added masses of depth. On the full, rich palate, I found candied blackberry and cola, playing a sweet & sour act and carrying this wines 14.5% alcohol flawlessly. The finish was fresh and long, showing dried cherries.

A true family affair, Ed, Kathy and their three children put their heart and souls into making fine wines on the land they love. In 1956, we moved to what is now "Gino's Vineyard", five-acre parcel in the rocky hillsides on the eastern bench of the valley.

A tasty old-school Zinfandel, with savory raspberry aromas and elegant cherry fruit flavors layered with notes of dried sage, licorice and red clay that finish with appealing rustic tannins. WS 93 Pts - Winery Tasting Notes - This vineyard (and wine) name. The Promise. in Italian. was chosen for the promise I made to my father to continue our family's winemaking traditions. This vineyard is located adjacent to our winery in Dry Creek on a rocky southwest facing slope in arguably the warmest part of the Dry Creek Valley. It is a young vineyard. planted only in 1999 and 2006 is the first vintage we vinified.
