Sbragia Family Merlot Dry Creek Valley Home Ranch 2009
Fairly uneventful entry to the palate. Slight hints of raspberry fruit. Some puckering on the tip and the top surface of the tongue. A somewhat "rough" wine. Thankfully, far from the wimpy Merlots that Miles of "Sideways" hated. Kind of a "hot" finish. On a (for us in SoCal) cool winter evening that heat is nice. RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Touch of cab franc made this delightful and with a firm backbone. -Tasted at the winery 9/19/09
Solid Merlot. Wildberrry, smooth tannins, nice lingering finish. Great value from a relatively small producer.
The wine is too dry for a merlot. It has a nice fruity aroma but the taste left me feeling shortchanged. There is some spice in the taste but not the typical fruit of a merlot. The wine seemed over priced at $19.99.

89 Points - Wine Advocate Readers looking for chocolaty berry fruit intermixed with mocha and toasty oak notes should check out the 2006 Merlot Home Ranch. This fairly priced, broad, flavorful, tasty Merlot offers considerable character if drunk over the next 7-8 years. -Robert Parker, December 2008.
