I've had for some time, a small, family-owned winery making limited, individual lots of wine from grapes grown in select blocks of my favorite vineyards. I've had for some time, a small, family-owned winery making limited, individual lots of wine from grapes grown in select blocks of my favorite vineyards. I've always had one foot in Sonoma and the other in Napa. Both areas mean a lot to me emotionally. I'm more attached to Dry Creek because it's where I raised my kids. But the wines that I've made at Beringer are like children, so Napa is also a very special place for me. Either way, the wines are intensely personal, an expression not only of terroir, but of my family's winemaking heritage. -Ed Sbragia   Come visit us at our beautiful location at the end of Dry Creek Road. Our winery is perched on a hillside, overlooking the entire valley with sweeping views from our terrace. Guests are invited to bring a picnic or purchase light deli items from our tasting room and enjoy the sunshine and vineyard views. Seated Terrace Tastings are now available by appointment. Sbragia Family Vineyards prides itself on its single vineyard varietals and small case production. Varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the wines are made from vineyards owned by the Sbragia family, but do include select vineyards from Sonoma and Napa Valley as well. Our wines have received many accolades and are considered some of California’s best. The only thing better than the view is the wine! Read less

Bright purple tinged edges on a ultra dark background. The nose reveals a certain breed of cassis that is pretty and floral. The palate shows the same cassis/currant but with the added dimension of boysenberry and super dark cherries, slight cocoa, and tat. There is a wonderful mouth feel that carries this forward. A great finish completes the package. This will surely benefit from a year in the bottle. For $26 this is a great QPR that belies its price tag. I have had the 2003 and this is less in your face and a more serious wine four square.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 18 to 24 months in French oak and is100% varietal. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Andolsen possesses more black raspberry blueberry and currant fruit less earthy notes but a chunky full-bodied style with supple tannins and more beef and muscle than the 2003. With all these wines it must seem like Ed Sbragia must have left Beringer to start his own operation but heb_Ts still at Beringer and they would be smart to keep him there given his undeniable talents. Heb_Ts been a fixture at Beringer for decades and it speaks highly of the Beringer brain trust to allow him the flexibility to have his own label. He features mostly Chardonnay and Cabernet but there are a couple Zinfandels and one Merlot in the portfolio. (Not yet released) Tel. (866) 222-4342 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
