Sbragia Family Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Cimarossa Vineyard 2004
Bright purple tinged edges on a ultra dark background. The nose reveals a certain breed of cassis that is pretty and floral. The palate shows the same cassis/currant but with the added dimension of boysenberry and super dark cherries, slight cocoa, and tat. There is a wonderful mouth feel that carries this forward. A great finish completes the package. This will surely benefit from a year in the bottle. For $26 this is a great QPR that belies its price tag. I have had the 2003 and this is less in your face and a more serious wine four square.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 18 to 24 months in French oak and is100% varietal. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Andolsen possesses more black raspberry blueberry and currant fruit less earthy notes but a chunky full-bodied style with supple tannins and more beef and muscle than the 2003. With all these wines it must seem like Ed Sbragia must have left Beringer to start his own operation but heb_Ts still at Beringer and they would be smart to keep him there given his undeniable talents. Heb_Ts been a fixture at Beringer for decades and it speaks highly of the Beringer brain trust to allow him the flexibility to have his own label. He features mostly Chardonnay and Cabernet but there are a couple Zinfandels and one Merlot in the portfolio. (Not yet released) Tel. (866) 222-4342 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
