Sbragia Cabernet Sauvignon Andolsen Vineyard 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Andolsen Vineyard bristles with considerable energy and vibrancy. Freshly cut flowers, spices, red berries and wild savory herbs are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. A polished, beautifully delineated finish rounds out this gorgeous, mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon. The Andolsen spent 18 months in French oak barrels, 100% new. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024- Rated 93 Antonio Galloni, WINE ADVOCATE

I've had for some time, a small, family-owned winery making limited, individual lots of wine from grapes grown in select blocks of my favorite vineyards. I've always had one foot in Sonoma and the other in Napa. Both areas mean a lot to me emotionally. I'm more attached to Dry Creek because it's where I raised my kids. But the wines that I've made at Beringer are like children, so Napa is also a very special place for me. Either way, the wines are intensely personal, an expression not only of terroir, but of my family's winemaking heritage. -Ed Sbragia   Come visit us at our beautiful location at the end of Dry Creek Road. Our winery is perched on a hillside, overlooking the entire valley with sweeping views from our terrace. Guests are invited to bring a picnic or purchase light deli items from our tasting room and enjoy the sunshine and vineyard views. Seated Terrace Tastings are now available by appointment. Sbragia Family Vineyards prides itself on its single vineyard varietals and small case production. Varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the wines are made from vineyards owned by the Sbragia family, but do include select vineyards from Sonoma and Napa Valley as well. Our wines have received many accolades and are considered some of California’s best. The only thing better than the view is the wine! Read less

A touch of chalky soil and a savory brown rice note open for classic blackberry and black currant fruit with rich chocolate and creamy vanilla aromas. A few years have mellowed this well balanced selection - ripe fruit flavors of black cherry and blackberry form the core but are joined by a pleasant spice, a creamy vanilla and chocolate note and good structure throughout. Well positioned and palate pleasing today with several more years left to develop as well. 91 pts
