Editorial Reviews for Saxum Syrah Blend Paso Robles Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard
Woody, jammy and intense with a touch of obvious alcohol on the nose. Big and round with a soft entry, fairly intense acids here are not entirely integrated, lots of extract, lots of extracted tannins on th finish which continues to show some heat. Big and powerful with intense flavors of rosemary tinged, slightly baked plum and blackberry fruits but the structural disarray keeps this from fully appealing. Perhaps some time will help. I am not convinced.
User Reviews for Saxum Syrah Blend Paso Robles Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard
Add your reviewAmazing. Very lush, velvety, BIG wine with a long, lingering finish. Each sip was like reading the next chapter in a great book. The label and oversized cork to signify what you're about to get out of the bottle -- a big thriller. Went perfectly with my buffalo filet wellington at the Flagstaff House. Excellent wine to accompany the most I've ever spent out in one night. Hats off to the sommelier for the recommendation and introducing me to Saxum; now, to actually find a bottle for myself...

A blend of 92% Syrah and 8% Grenache, the 2005 Booker Vineyard is the debut vintage of this 400-case cuvee produced from a hillside vineyard situated on the west side of Highway 101. It exhibits plenty of crushed rock, sweet black fruit, and underbrush/forest floor characteristics along with sweet tannin and a structured, muscular personality similar to a northern Rhone. Big and powerful yet precise and well-delineated, it should drink nicely for 10-15 years. The bottled 2005s are all performing well.
