Charlemagne for those who are on a budget. A floral, leesy and concentrated white Burgundy that comes from pure limestone soils. The mineral adds texture and a backbone to this Chardonnay. Delicious and drinking well but also has the substance to cellar a decade.

If you're looking for traditional Burgundy that shows village character, turn to Chandon de Briailles. Elegant with freshly picked red and wild raspberry fruit character. Tannins show well on the finish but naturally Pinot Noir doesn't render a highly tannic red wine. Dry and elegant and approachable today with a proper decanting, although it can be held for years to come.
