User Reviews for Sauvignon Republic Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Stellenbosch
Add your review82 points. Very interesting on the nose, complete with passionfruit and fig, unripe grapefruit, an almost smoky minerality, and a pleasant grassiness. Flavors of clamshell and gooseberries appear initially, giving way to a very faint nuttiness, pepper, smoke, and a firm green fig component at the end. The acidity is milder than I was expecting and there is a pretty good balance, although it comes across a little light. This is a pretty good wine overall, although I still think that there are quite a few Sauvignon Blancs being made in South Africa and New Zealand that could replace this wine at the quality and price range. If you’re looking to try a Sauvignon Blanc from Stellenbosch this would be an okay place to start, but better offerings do exist near or slightly above this price range. Lime and lime zest dominate this jazzy SB, both in the aromas and the palate. Finish has a strip of jalapeno pepper in it, very distinctive. Great with chicken fajitas, ceviche, etc.
Light, with tones of grapfruit, but not too citrusy. Not too grassy like some others from this region. Wonderful wine, my favorite sauvignon blanc from New Zealand.
Clean and crisp. Citrus and fresh cut grass on the nose. Very drinkable.
A classic sauv. blanc. Nose: citrus, pineapple, grass. Body: light, with just enough acidity to clear the palate. Palate: gentle combination of lemon, grapefruit, with hints of grass (not too vegetal, though) and other fruits. Finish: quick Secondary Fermentation: no, and not needed. Pair this with any of the classic white wine foods: a double-cream brie, trout almandine, chicken in a light cream sauce.

From Stellenbosch producer Sauvignon Republic Cellars, this wine has an undeniably South Africa character, with its tropical fruit aromas and flavors mingled with a crisp minerality. It's clean and crisp but full of upfront flavor.
A lean, steely version, with gooseberry, flint and lime flavors that run through the racy finish. Drink now.
Bright, pale yellow. Aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, fresh herbs, anise and gooseberry. Supple and intense, with some CO2 perking up the flavors of citrus pith, grapefruit and minerals. Brisk and dry but not austere. Finishes with a firm edge and good dusty persistence.
Wine & Spirits ReviewThis wine's cut-grass greenness is soft rather than piercing, its zesty spice lasting with the clarity of the fruit.Wine Tasting NotesClassic pale-straw color with rich pineapple, grapefruit, and tropical fruit layers and a touch of herbal "green" Sauvignon notes. Multiple vineyard sources allowed the assembly of a blend that showcases fruitiness and refreshing acidity supported by a surprising richness and length of finish.
Winemaker's Notes:
This Sauvignon incorporates elements of flavor from its surroundings and growing climate. Subtle tropical aromas with hints of passion fruit and citrus and minerality are the main themes with nuances of green notes and a crisp supporting acidity.
