Sauvignon Republic Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Russian River Valley 2012
Intense grass and roasted chili on the nose almost smoky mineral tones as well, smells like a riverbed, A bit light, disconcertingly so, with adequate acidity but a rather blowzy feel in the mouth, moderate flavors of gooseberry and green plum on the palate with a touch of zesty herb and lime, rather low key and boring though the lightness grows on you. Eminently drinkable and friendly. 85ptsAdd winemaker's notes

Their 2012 has a pungent nose of lime and Gardenia flowers. The acid balance is about right--too much acid is a common NZ SB flaw. The amount of fruit is excellent- finishes nice with some spice- Slight Rosemary. Very nice effort. My rating -- 89--- How could this wine be improved? Add some semillon to give it more body and complexity.
Clear bright, generous aromas of gooseberries, citrus & grass, rich acids carry notes of greenberries, orange rind, limes and minerals with terrific mouthfeel and a long finish. A steal from Trader Joe's!
90 points. The nose on this wine was explosive with tons of complexity showing through. There are lush tropical fruit and floral tones, an absolutely textbook example of fig, ripe passionfruit, gooseberry, endless green fruit, and even a faint hint of rose. The flavor was equally impressive with lots of sharp acid, gooseberries, figs, and a nice chalkiness with some tropical fruit tones around the edges. This wine had great balance between ripe fruit and clean minerality. This is a very well made wine and an excellent example of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. I like this wine more than a number of Sauvignon Blancs I’ve had from Marlborough. Source: What's Worth Drinking: Post #4: Sauvignon Republic http://whatsworthdrinking.com/2010/04/23/ )
For the price of $7 this excellent Savignon Blanc from Savignon Republic is worth 4 glasses. Fun wine to drink on a hot summer evening and has so many different tastes as you sip the wine.
In your face (and nose) style. Pungent gooseberry, nice acid, but not over the top. Easy to drink.

Grassy and herbal mdash; verging on vegetal mdash; but with just enough ripe nectarine flavors to help provide a sense of balance. Itrsquo;s nicely round in the mouth, with a soft, easygoing finish.
Lively generous and appealing for its juicy grapefruit and grapefruit peel flavors which persist into the finish. Hints at green apple and gravel as this lingers.
Wine Spectator ReviewConcentrated, with appealing vibrancy and fleshiness to grapefruit-lime and grass flavors. Mineral notes and subtle passion fruit highlight the aromas, with refreshing citrus acidity. Drink now.Wine Tasting NotesThis wine is a complex assemblage that showcases the diversity of fruit flavors from several growers in Marlborough, specifically the Wairau River and Waihopi Valleys. The ability to blend was a huge asset as one vineyard supplied flavors of gooseberry, nettles and fresh-cut herbs while another added celery and tropical fruit. Others contributed minerality and supported crisp acidity. The result is an interlaced, delicious wine.
