Sauvignon Blanc Rapel Valley 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

An intense and crisp pale gold Sauvignon Blanc. This wine shows good aromatic intensity, with notes of white peach, pineapple and citrus. At the palate it is fresh, and with a pleasant finish. Delicious as an aperitif, or with poultry, seafood, salmon, and salads.

In the Rapel Valley, at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, school friends Felipe Ibáñez and Jorge Gutiérrez founded Viña Anakena. Their project was to be exceptional and nothing should be left to chance. Convinced that to achieve distinction they must offer the highest quality, they scoured the celebrated wine-producing regions of the world, soaking up the culture and the most up-to-date winery techniques, and found out what was expected of the wines from this remote but well-endowed land. Thus in 1999 the first vineyards were planted in Alto Cachapoal; today Viña Anakena has 155 planted hectares in the Cachapoal Valley, 128 planted hectares in Leyda —San Antonio Valley—, 70 planted hectares in Cerro Ninquén —Colchagua Valley—, and 60 hectares in Las Cabras, Rapel Valley. Anakena wines are exported to more than 40 countries around the world and are constantly praised by the most demanding experts. Read less

This is the best bargain of all times! Lots of honey & gooseberry make this a stunning sauvignon blanc. If you were to do a blind tasting, it would compare to the $15 bottles of wines.

Very nice, clean and with subtle grassy and herbal notes. Better than Monkey Bay. The single vineyard series is fantastic at $11.99 if you want to move up. butt for 5.33 that is asome price........................................................love......

I tend to like dry (but not bone dry) whites and generally hunt for Sauvignon blancs. This has a nice gravely flavor that I like. I was surprised to find that I had only paid $7 for this -- thought it was probably a $10 wine.

This wine has a delicate and crisp pale gold color. It shows good aromatic intensity with notes of white peach and black current bud. This wine has a cleansing and delicious finish.
