Sauska Dry Furmint 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

*Recommended - Damian Barr, Sunday Times Magazine* Christian Sauska is a Hungarian entrepreneur who, having forged a successful career in the USA, decided in 1999 to establish a winery in his homeland. In 2000 he converted a historic building in Tokaj, formerly known as the Citizens’ Casino, into a production facility and tasting room. This was joined in 2006 by a new winery the other side of Hungary, in Villány. With red varieties grown in the latter region and white grapes in the former, Sauska is able to produce exemplary wines in numerous different styles. A captivating expression of Hungary’s most famous white grape variety, this Furmint offers intense aromas of peach, blood orange and herbs. The palate is dry, with a satisfying fullness in the middle, leading to a crisp grapefruity finish. Discover what you thirst for in Hungary… “Since communism collapsed in 1989, Hungarians have revived their native grapes. Seek out the uniquely fresh furmint, which can be ultra dry or supersweet. .. One of the best new dry-style Tokajis is the zesty, thrilling Sauska Dry Furmint 2015. The shape-shifting grape is in buzzy dry form here. Its upbeat acidity carries you from initial lemongrass aromatics to a slightly salty finish." Recommended - Damian Barr, Sunday Times Magazine
