Sartarelli Verdicchio Verdicchio Dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Of an intense straw yellow colour with greenish nuances. Its fine elegant smell with notes of white fruits and citrus-fruits develops into a subtle mineral aroma. It has a rich alcohol zing and flavour but with its well-balanced acidity it becomes soft on the palate.

The nose was fresh with spring flowers, morning dew, ripe melon and pear. On the palate it had a medium body with a luxurious oily like texture, with flavors of honey dew melon and apple. The finish was mouth coating yet still perfectly refreshing.

Owner Donatella Sartarelli started making wines with her father in the 70's and has been passionate about learning and growing Verdicchio ever since. The estate grows only Verdicchio in their steeply pitched vineyards, in order to focus on producing wines that well express the flavors of the indigenous grape at its finest. This is the beautifully perfumed "higher-level" cuvee from Sartarelli, this white is crafted entirely in stainless steel to capture the purity of the old-vines fruit. The juice is allowed 10 hours on the skins before draining, adding to the voluptuous nature of the wine.
