What to Expect
Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshingly crisp white wine that offers citrus and tropical fruit flavors with very aromatic notes of green chilies, grass, herbs, asparagus and gooseberries commonly contributing to the bouquet. Sauvignon Blanc is generally unaoked allowing the fruit to shine and highlighting the delicacy of the grape.
Winemakers Notes
The 2006 Saracina Sauvignon Blanc is a penetrating, sharply focused wine that shows the complexity of old vines and old clones. The palate is crisp and mouth-watering but with an intense mouth-feel and long finish that are products of the extended lees aging and batonnage. The aromas of lime, pink grapefruit, white peaches and jasmine recall a Loire-style sauvignon blanc. This vintage is our most uncompromising, mineral-laden sauvignon blanc to date.

Had the good fortune of doing a vertical of Saracina Sauvignon Blanc (2004-2006). The 04 had all the stereotypical SB pungency, if you like that kind of funk. The 05 took some time to come out of its shell, but bridged the gap of bright new world ripe fruit and old world terroir; while the 06, stood up and said, look at me, I'm young and sexy, like a debutante at the ball. Each of the wines had their own unique, lasting finish, but lacked the racy acidity that you would expect from such a bottling.
