Tight on the nose with a hint of tar laying under notes of dried peaches and preserved lemons. Very smooth and polished in the mouth, theres good acidity here and fine underlying minerality but this has a richer mouthfeel than most whites from Santorini, a mouthfeel even a Chardonnay lover could be attracted to. The flavors lean towards the mineral, with some under-ripe apple and peach notes on the mid-palate that lead to a long, slightly astringent and textural finish that offers quite the contrast to the lush mid-palate. A modern take on Assyrtiko that remains true to its roots. The finish here really shows how assertive Assyrtiko the grape . It is not to be tamed. 87pts

Dry and a bit stony on the nose this shows a bit of a woody accent and a little hint of the sweetness of oxidation wrapped up in aromas of sweet gum and beeswax. Supple, low and elegant in the mouth, there’s a softness here that benefits from the modest richness of this wine. Very easy drinking, if a bit short on the finish, this delivers modest yet balanced flavors of stony minerality and unripe peach skin notes but the appeal of its texture is undeniable. Perhaps not as assertively flavored as some wines from Santorini, this will be more of a crowd pleaser. 85pts

A slightly heavy, resinous nose with light lemon tea robe. Orange rind and nutmeg abounds. A slightly "traveled" odor of stewed peaches and gooseberry. Similar flavors on the front and back palate. A bit warm but with the adequate, lively acidity associated with the Assyrtiko grape. Can be drunk young (no patience required - I disagree with the Wine and Spirits review). Aging is possible but would only intensify the already "stewed" flavors... 86 points

Golden yellow in glass with i think a green hue to it! Very tart green apple on palate - harsh. Not much else other than some burn...not enjoying this, although i would not is "bad". Would not recomend it. May try the more recent vintages for fun...so much for ringing in a happy new year so far!

The 2011 SANTORINI is Assyrtiko, and a rather refined and carefully crafted one that slowly evolves and unwinds, demonstrating its persistence and the ability to improve dramatically in the glass. Boutari seems to have a style, emphasizing harmony an... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Proprietary Blend wine from in Greece. 2011 Boutari Santorini 750ml

The 2010 Santorini, clocking in at 13.5%, is typically a nicely priced, generally available choice on Santorini. This starts ripe up front, with the steel and acidity asserting itself strongly on the finish. As it warms up, it is all about the structure, showing finesse and delicacy, combined with persistence on the finish, as the acidity and lemony nuances assert themselves. It acquires a certain austerity and hard edge, more so than the 2009, I think, at a similar age. Drink now–2017.

This rich, well-crafted white shows Golden Delicious apple flavors and nice creamy touches. There's plenty of smoke and spice on the fresh, juicy finish. Drink now.

Rich and luscious, with plenty of power behind the quince, green peach and ripe apple flavors. The finish is powered by ripe spice notes, with some creamy hints. Assyrtiko. Drink now through 2015. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
