Santa Rita Triple C 2012

Member Review by MarioRobles:

An amazing wine... red fruits, sublime oak handling... all in tune... by far, still a wine with a LONG future but so ready to drink too... you can still 'taste' the 3 varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere & Cabernet Franc) but that does not reduce its quality.. it will only get better and better... I'd happily have it as my desert island wine! 97/100

Santa Rita was founded in 1880, by a distinguished entrepreneur of those times, Mr. Domingo Fernández Concha in the area of Alto Jahuel where the main installations of the winery are currently located. From the very beginning, he introduced fine French varieties, winemakers and the most advanced winemaking techniques. From the end of the XIX century until the mid 70´s, Santa Rita developed under the ownership of Mr. Vicente García - Huidobro, father of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro Fernández. In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, giving a strong impulse to the enterprise in all of its scope, introducing great technological improvements and wine elaboration techniques unknown in Chile at that time. At the end of the 80´s a great expansion period for Santa Rita starts, sustained by the great momentum experienced by its exports and the excellent reputation acquired by its products, which obtained important awards and worldwide recognition. medium cherry red/purple color. raspberry flavor with a bit of sour berry taste upfront. Strong finish with a sense of earthy and mild tannins. still trying to figure out the aroma...but it's more of a wild berries or flowery aroma. This wine is different from the Triple C 2004 I've had before. After 15 mins in decanter...the taste does change a bit....just a tad more spicy in the after taste.

Dark purple color. Intense aroma with fruity sense of characteristics. And the taste?...rich with blackcurrant and black cherry. Wonderfully long lasting on the palate and quite fruity on my taste. All in all, a wonderful experience on the combination of the three C's....a triple C indeed. Worth a try if you can get a hold of it.

A powerful red, with a surplus of dark plum, blackberry and dark currant flavors that are pure and focused, wrapped in layers of vanilla and cream. The long finish is filled with dark chocolate and wild herb notes. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère. Drink now through 2020. 3,100 cases made. -KM - Wine Spectator Top 100, 2013 Dry, leafy, herbal aromas come with berry power and spice. Triple C stands for Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon as well as Carmenère. This is a wide load on the palate, with smooth tannins and savory, roasted berry flavors that lead to a finish boasting chocolate, leather, spice and baked berry notes. Drink through 2017. - M.S.

Triple C 2007 - 90 points, Wine Advocate/ The 2007 Triple C is a blend of 65% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Carmenere that is aged in new French oak for 20 months. The palate is full-bodied with succulent, ripe tannins, lovely red berry fruit laced with balsamic and orange rind that leads to a nicely composed, muscular finish that manages to retain fine focus. The oak is neatly folded into this red blend and it should merit a couple of years in bottle.
