Santa Rita Merlot Reserva 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

In our 120 Chardonnay we combine grapes from different vineyards from the central zone in order to attain a fruity, elegant wine, in the coastal zone with a stronger Pacific Ocean influence, we attain freshness and citric combinations, the pre-Andean area brings tropical fruits and sweetness providing an amber-colored wine with greenish overtones, well-balanced, refreshing and round.

Santa Rita was founded in 1880, by a distinguished entrepreneur of those times, Mr. Domingo Fernández Concha in the area of Alto Jahuel where the main installations of the winery are currently located. From the very beginning, he introduced fine French varieties, winemakers and the most advanced winemaking techniques. From the end of the XIX century until the mid 70´s, Santa Rita developed under the ownership of Mr. Vicente García - Huidobro, father of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro Fernández. In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, giving a strong impulse to the enterprise in all of its scope, introducing great technological improvements and wine elaboration techniques unknown in Chile at that time. At the end of the 80´s a great expansion period for Santa Rita starts, sustained by the great momentum experienced by its exports and the excellent reputation acquired by its products, which obtained important awards and worldwide recognition. Very nice unoaked chard! Loved it, actually, but it lost its flavor quickly. Needs to be completed in one go.

Pale straw. Zesty lime and grapefruit aromas are straightforward and pure. Clean and brisk on the palate, with racy citrus and pear flavors and good mineral snap. The brisk finish offers modest persistence. This is an excellent value in refreshing sauvignon blanc.

Pale yellow. Musky aromas of pink grapefruit, lime zest, herbs and dried flowers. Juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors are complicated by tarragon and mint notes, gaining sweetness on the back end. Finishes with good breadth, a touch of heat and echoes of lime and honeysuckle.

The medium straw-colored 2007 Sauvignon Blanc ldquo;120rdquo; exhibits an attractive bouquet of spring flowers, citrus, and lemon-lime followed by a crisp, refreshing wine with a clean finish. Should be consumed over the next 1ndash;2 years. They are both excellent values.

Medium straw. Varietally accurate citrus, melon and herbal aromas are precise and energetic. Green apple and lemon dominate on the palate, with fleshier melon and peach emerging on the back half.

A forward style, with tasty pippin apple and lime notes that have good snap on the finish. Drink now.

Reflective of a good vintage for Sauvignon Blanc, this simple but delicious wine features pretty flower blossom and citrus aromas backed by fresh apple, orange and lime flavors. Itrsquo;s clean, crisp and balanced across the palate. Perfect for drinking upon purchase.

Chill it and kill it, and you probably wonrsquo;t be disappointed. There isnrsquo;t a lot of character to the nose, but the palate offers round melon and citrus flavors supported by pretty good acidity. Itrsquo;s a little sugary but sound and tropical. More than 200,000 cases produced, so it should be widely available.
