This perennial Best Buy shines in 2005. It's clean, inviting and ready to go as piercing cherry, plum and cola flavors make a stand. Flush, warm and fairly full-bodied, 120 is one of those bargain lines that satisfies. More than 300,000 cases made, so it's good stuff made on a grand scale.
Pale gold. Tangy aromas of lime, grapefruit, ginger and orange zest. Then surprisingly supple and round on the palate, with gentle tangerine and ripe apple flavors. A subtle, spicy, fresh wine that offers superb value.
Ruby-red. Fresh red currant and cherry aromas, with a subtle floral quality adding interest. Juicy red fruit flavors are a touch jammy and betray none of the green qualities that are common for cabernet in this price range. Finishes with good clarity and lingering sweetness. This is a superb value and delivers more fruit punch than cabernets costing three times as much.
Given that this wine is the definition of mass-market Cab (350,000 cases made), you have to be impressed by its honest, round character and relatively true aromas and flavors. The nose is meaty and a little flat, while the palate has cassis, berry and mild herbal flavors. The feel has some chop to it, but overall this is good Cabernet at a price anyone can swallow.
A medium-bodied Chilean Cabernet with sweet berry and cherry flavors with a touch of tasty spice, mild tannins and perfect balance. It's wonderful with food.
This Chilean Cabernet displays mild tannins, berries and rich spice. It's medium in body and perfectly balanced. The patriots the wine is named after would be proud.
Itrsquo;s not a stretch to say that this is the model for blue-plate value Chilean Chardonnay. The soft nose offers pear and hazelnut, while the open palate is geared toward apples, pears and toast. A known entity, but good in its category.
