From the very beginning, he introduced fine French varieties, winemakers and the most advanced winemaking techniques. From the end of the XIX century until the mid 70´s, Santa Rita developed under the ownership of Mr. Vicente García - Huidobro, father of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro Fernández. In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, giving a strong impulse to the enterprise in all of its scope, introducing great technological improvements and wine elaboration techniques unknown in Chile at that time. At the end of the 80´s a great expansion period for Santa Rita starts, sustained by the great momentum experienced by its exports and the excellent reputation acquired by its products, which obtained important awards and worldwide recognition. 120 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 - 85 Points & Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast/ This value-priced wine struts like it comes from a better neighborhood. The nose is clean and is centered on berry fruit, while the palate is medium in size, with creamy, sweet berry flavors.

120 Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 - 85 Points & Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast/ You have to be impressed by its honest, round character and relatively true aromas and flavors. The nose is meaty while the palate has cassis, berry and mild herbal flavors. The feel has some chop to it, but overall this is good Cabernet at a price anyone can swallow.

Case Real 2007 - 92+, Wine Advocate/ The 2007 Casa Real Cabernet Sauvignon (100%) spent 15 months in 95% new French oak. Toasty oak, earthy minerals, exotic spices, incense, tobacco, and assorted black fruits lead to a ripe, rich, pleasure-bent wine...

Heritage and enterprise are hallmarks of Santa Rita, one of Chile’s premier wine estates. Founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernandez in Chile’s Maipo Valley, this historic property was among the first to pioneer plantings of European grape varieties in Chile. In 1980, it was acquired by its present owner, Gruppo Claro, under whom Santa Rita has reaped the rewards of continuous investment, resulting in a period of impressive growth, during which the winery has consolidated its position in the vanguard of Chile’s most successful and innovative estates. Santa Rita’s internationally popular, best-selling “120” Series of varietal wines recalls the heroes of a pivotal event in Chile’s successful 19th century struggle to overthrow Spanish rule. History relates that in the early 1800s Doña Paula Jaraquemada, then proprietor of the Santa Rita manor house and estate near the Chilean capital of Santiago, famously gave refuge in the cellars of her property to 120 Chilean patriots. When a brigade of Spanish soldiers arrived at the expansive one-story ranch house in search the band of rebels, the feisty matriarch stated she would rather see the Spanish burn the property to the ground, with her inside, then let them step foot within her family home. Thus it was that band of 120 men lived on to fight another day, and the dwelling, now site of Santa Rita’s highly acclaimed Doña Paula Restaurant, occupies a unique place in Chilean national history. Production Area Central Valley, Chile Grape Varieties 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vinification Temperature-controlled vinification, followed by a period of aging. 90% of the wine spends 8 months in stainless steel tanks, with the balance matured in oak barrels prior to blending, bottling and release. Color Brilliant ruby red Bouquet Scents of ripe red fruit, clove and vanilla Taste Medium-bodied and fruit forward, with ripe, well structured tannins Alcohol 13.7% Serving Suggestions An ideal match for red meats, pork, spicy sauces and cheese soufflés

120 Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 - 87 Points, International Wine Cellar/ Ruby-red. Fresh redcurrant and cherry aromas, with a subtle floral quality adding interest. Juicy red fruit flavors are a touch jammy and betray none of the green qualities that are common for cabernet in this price range. Finishes with good clarity and lingering sweetness. This is a superb value and delivers more fruit punch than cabernets costing three times as much.
