Santa Rita Chardonnay 120 2006

External Review by Palm Bay International:

Heritage and enterprise are hallmarks of Chile’s Santa Rita winery. In 1980, it was acquired by its present owner, Gruppo Claro, under whom Santa Rita has reaped the rewards of continuous investment, resulting in a period of impressive growth, during which the winery has consolidated its position in the vanguard of Chile’s most successful and innovative estates. Floresta is an innovative line of limited production, terroir-driven varietal wines, hand-crafted from the finest grapes. The Floresta line is designed to attract individuals who are passionate about discovering new and exotic world-class wines with a distinct personality. Floresta wines combine the structure of a bottling developed and matured perfectly over a period time in an expertly crafted wine produced from the finest fruit possible. In short, Santa Rita’s Floresta wines reflect the very best that our exceptional Chilean terroir can offer. Production Area 85% Apalta Valley (Colchagua Valley), and 15% Alto Jahuel Estate (Maipo Valley). Mediterranean semi-arid climate with rainfall mostly in winter and the “El Niño” current showing its influence, a phenomenon that increases rainfall Grape Varieties 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vinification Traditional vinification, followed by 18 months in new French barrels before bottling Color Deep, ruby red Bouquet Intense, ripe fruit dominated by cassis, blackberries and cherries, with delicate mint, vanilla and clove notes Taste Rich and concentrated, with smooth, ripe tannins and an opulent, lingering finish Alcohol 14.5% Serving Suggestions Enjoy with red meats, wild game and fowl, ripe cheeses and dark chocolate

In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, giving a strong impulse to the enterprise in all of its scope, introducing great technological improvements and wine elaboration techniques unknown in Chile at that time. At the end of the 80´s a great expansion period for Santa Rita starts, sustained by the great momentum experienced by its exports and the excellent reputation acquired by its products, which obtained important awards and worldwide recognition.
