Santa Rita was founded in 1880, by a distinguished entrepreneur of those times, Mr. Domingo Fernández Concha in the area of Alto Jahuel where the main installations of the winery are currently located. From the very beginning, he introduced fine French varieties, winemakers and the most advanced winemaking techniques. From the end of the XIX century until the mid 70´s, Santa Rita developed under the ownership of Mr. Vicente García - Huidobro, father of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro Fernández. In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, giving a strong impulse to the enterprise in all of its scope, introducing great technological improvements and wine elaboration techniques unknown in Chile at that time. At the end of the 80´s a great expansion period for Santa Rita starts, sustained by the great momentum experienced by its exports and the excellent reputation acquired by its products, which obtained important awards and worldwide recognition. Marshmallow sweetness and oak aromas give it a confected nose, while the mouth is weighty, concentrated and sappy, with mildly raspy berry and plum flavors. More spicy than herbal, with sweetness and forward oak on the finish. A full-force wine, but one thatrsquo;s fairly basic.

Great concentration of dark red fruits, with delicate sweet tones of vanilla, cloves and coconut. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated with ripe, soft savory tannins.

A slightly jammy style, with juicy raspberry and fig notes followed by spice and licorice hints. Good length. For fans of the style. Drink now.

What Malbec has been for Argentina, Irsquo;m hoping Carmeacute;negrave;re will be for Chile! The Santa Rita is lusher than many others, but with the same intense spice and herbal notes that hallmark the grape. Deep black and red currant notes dominate on the palate, with hints of anise, pepper, allspice and green pepper. Perfect for barbecued items, but also works exceptionally well with heavy mushroom-dishes and roasted meats.

Has a fair amount of toast, but overall this is fleshy and sweet, with tasty brier and pepper notes. Nice juicy finish. Drink now.

While herbal aromas initially dominate, notes of green pepper and ripe strawberries emerge to lend dimension to this soft wine. For torta pascualina (spinach pie).
