Santa Julia Torrontes 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Silver yellow with brilliant pale green reflections. Notes of rose, orange peel, white peaches, fruits salad, chamomile and other aromatic herbs. A fresh flavour and light body with flavours of rose grapefruit, ripe fruits like peaches and pears. A balanced wine with great fineness in aromas and flavours.

Bodega Santa Julia:
Santa Julia is a label offshoot of Familia Zuccardi wines from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is named after Julia Zuccardi, daughter of chief winemaker José Alberto Zuccardi. The wines are organic (although not certified under US law) and handmade, with close attention to detail. This is an affordable range of dry and sparkling wines as well as a late harvest Torontes/Viognier blend called simply “Tardio.”

The 2011 Santa Julia + Torrontes (the + is a symbol for “sustainable”) displays a pleasing perfume of jasmine, tropical, and citrus notes. The flavors are a bit superficial, but at the humble asking price, there won’t be many complaints. Drink it over the next 12–18 months.

Floral, alert and nice on the nose, with tight lime, lychee and melon aromas. Feels good, lifted and layered, with lychee, citrus and tarragon flavors. Shows mild bitterness on the finish, but not too much. Nice Torrontés.
