Santa Julia Tardio Reserva 2012

Member Review by Argovino:

Where so many late-harvest dessert wines are cloyingly sweet and syrupy, this torrontes tends toward the lighter side in both taste and feel. The main note is apple, which starts out softly in the bouquet, like apple butter, and then gains a bit of green-apple bite in the mouth. Not a big finisher, but crisp and easy to drink. Bodega Santa Julia:
Santa Julia is a label offshoot of Familia Zuccardi wines from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is named after Julia Zuccardi, daughter of chief winemaker José Alberto Zuccardi. The wines are organic (although not certified under US law) and handmade, with close attention to detail. This is an affordable range of dry and sparkling wines as well as a late harvest Torontes/Viognier blend called simply “Tardio.”
