Santa Julia is a label offshoot of Familia Zuccardi wines from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is named after Julia Zuccardi, daughter of chief winemaker José Alberto Zuccardi. The wines are organic (although not certified under US law) and handmade, with close attention to detail. This is an affordable range of dry and sparkling wines as well as a late harvest Torontes/Viognier blend called simply “Tardio.”
Four and a half glasses
My Rating 87: This wine has a firm tannin body that is sufficient dry The is la little complex with Malbec type aromas
My rating : 86 this wine is firm with a strong fruit backbone. Too much for me. But might appeal to some. Nose is well balance with no special overpowering attribute. Price I think to high $ 10.-
External Reviews for Santa Julia Malbec Reserva
A great everyday red, the Santa Julia Reserve Malbec comes from their estate vineyards in Mendoza. Good complexity with ripe notes of plums and blackberries. Full-bodied with soft tannins, there are hints of vanilla on the finish due to the 10 months of aging in new French oak.
Dunkelviolett, leicht rubinrot schimmernd, intensive Fruchtnote nach Pflaumen und Dörrobst, sehr körperreich, langanhaltender Abgang.
Purple/black color; spice box, lavender, black cherry aromas and flavors; dense and layered.
Bold Malbec with aromas of berry liqueur, cassis and black cherry. The palate is fresh in feel, with some edginess and snappy acids. Tastes full of berry fruit, creamy oak and vanilla, while the finish is round, lengthy and big. A little oaky and forced, but nice as Malbec goes.
"Dark violet and brilliant purple colour. Good complexity in the nose with typical Malbec aromas of ripe fruits such as figs
