Santa Julia Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Member Review by chriscage:

The look of this one is ever so slightly opaque, rusty red/brown in color and with residual sugars & skin pigments about. Aromas are fruity and deep, with reminders of blackberry, currant, subdued spicy peppercorn, and Earthy tones like soil and pine needle. The flavors are dark, and of dried black fruits (plum, berries, and prune), leather, peppercorn in the aftertaste, slightly young booze tinges and leafy dryness. The mouthfeel is medium-dense, ever so slightly gritty and it lingers.....not a bad Cab and leans towards a hot weather kind of vino....closer to those found in Continental Europe...

Bodega Santa Julia:
Santa Julia is a label offshoot of Familia Zuccardi wines from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is named after Julia Zuccardi, daughter of chief winemaker José Alberto Zuccardi. The wines are organic (although not certified under US law) and handmade, with close attention to detail. This is an affordable range of dry and sparkling wines as well as a late harvest Torontes/Viognier blend called simply “Tardio.”

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Ruby colour with purple hues. Aroma: Notes of mature forest fruits such as blackberries and blueberries, complemented by subtle spicy notes of black pepper, paprika and herbal touch. Flavour: Round, balanced with soft tannins and lively acidity. It has a mouth end of intense dark fruit presence.
