Santa Julia Malbec 2010
Santa Julia is a label offshoot of Familia Zuccardi wines from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is named after Julia Zuccardi, daughter of chief winemaker José Alberto Zuccardi. The wines are organic (although not certified under US law) and handmade, with close attention to detail. This is an affordable range of dry and sparkling wines as well as a late harvest Torontes/Viognier blend called simply “Tardio.”
Editorial Reviews for Santa Julia Malbec
High toned and a little volatile with cocoa necco wafer tones over wild cherry and raspberry notes. Round and a bit on the sweet side with a softness to it, and good acids, but not much detail. There's something to like here, easy and round with a faint, soft finish that shows good persistence to a licorice tone, but at the same time this lacks distinction. 84pts
Bright red fruit wafts on the nose with a bit of tannin...very soft on entry and a lovely if a bit funky finish.
My Rating 88: Firm structured wine with plenty of backbone ( Tannins) I guess it still needs some time . Complex aroma with medium intense nose that is clearly a Malbec smell..Would recommend $ 8.99
fruity and approachable but a little harsh in some places. a bit sweet and soft.
Rich fruty taste with an spicy finish.
Two and a half glasses
