Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Santa Ema Reserve Cabernet has been a go to for us for years. Lots of dark berry fruit character with loads of spice and toasty oak notes, this represents an excellent value for the region.

Winemaker's Notes:

88 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): The 2009 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon also spent 8 months in French and American oak. Slightly reticent aromatically, with coaxing it reveals notes of cedar, tobacco, violets, spice box, and assorted black fruits. More structured than the Reserve Merlot, it might evolve for 1-2 years although there is no need to defer gratification. (Feb 2012)
